Immersive, outdoor, spatial audio experience

Fair Winds & Following Seas is a FREE immersive headphone audio experience which connects you to your surroundings in a completely unique way.

Part of a series of walks through 2025, this project starts at Freedom Festival with its pilot walk titled ‘Leave Your Mark’.

Downloaded to your very own smart device and delivered through headphones, this outdoor walk engages you with the path you walk.

Presented in spatial sound and using GPS to create seamless transitions of original music, poetry and sound mapped audio, walk at your own pace whilst exploring your own imagination.

Blurring the lines between the physical and digital worlds and allowing you the time to reflect with your own thoughts, Fair Winds & Following Seas will immerse you in music and playful sounds of the environment whilst encouraging you to look at the seemingly simple world around you.

Accesible route available.

“Mesmerising and contemplative portrait of the river hull. So great to be able to connect with Hull more. A proper treat to wander around the forgotten bits with your ears full of magic.”

RE:Discovered

RE:Imagined

RE:Interpreted

Re:Created

Commissioned by Freedom Festival Arts Trust and originally presented at The Awakening March 2022, its initial concept was to connect the past, present and future together as part of an outdoor cinema experience. Using some of Hull’s beautiful buildings as a backdrop to project onto, RE:SCORE allowed the audience to connect these spaces with warm, nostalgic footage from the past alongside a brand new bespoke musical soundtrack.

Produced by The Broken Orchestra and in association with British Film Institute, Film Hub North and Yorkshire Film Archive, RE:SCORE is the coming together of a diverse range of musical artists, to create original compositions that sit alongside culturally important archive films. What is achieved can be enjoyed as a stand alone, part of a larger collection or be displayed and projected as part of a festival, commission or larger event for a truly unique, romantic and sentimental experience for the audience.

Breathing new life into old film

RE:SCORE shines a light on forgotten archive film footage while showcasing new work from a diverse collective of independent musical artists.

2 / The Things We Leave Behind

To give a sense of what this project looks like…

This project is currently transitioning from an extensive RnD phase with support from Arts Council England; into a touring installation. Because of this, our professional imagery and videos are yet to be captured.

As the installation continues its journey into the public this summer, we have included some of the videos and images we have used previously. Although these were done in house, these will be updated around July/August time and show the installation as a touring experience in a caravan.

Caravan Size

Length 4.5mtrs

Width 2.2mtrs

Height 2.5mtrs

‘‘This experience will remain with me and shape what I do. I can’t forget it’’

‘‘sad but in a good way. Feel inspired with a fresh perspective’ peaceful but significant…optimistic about my physical existence’’

‘‘mediative & tranquil whilst thinking about invisible values of things & memories’’

In partnership with?

As firm believers in collaborations and partnerships, we would like to propose that elements of this have the potential to work as a co-production.

We believe that this work can be heightened by the involvement of Freies Werkstatt Theater in various areas.

In order to perform, it would be more effective to combine performances and create a tour; either multiple German performances or a European tour. We like to to work with you to create a structured and sustainable way that benefits all.

We also have always wanted to explore more dramaturgical elements to our experience and we see your expertise as a really important development for our work.

We have also never toured beyond British borders. To be in a position to work with you to understand how to market and promote an event in territory we are unfamiliar with, would be major growth for our organisation.
